Anne Frank was a Jewish girl born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1929. In 1933, she and her family escaped to Holland because of fascist persecution in Germany. In 1941, however, Germany occupied Holland and Anne's family was again in danger. During the two years that she and her family hid, she kept a diary where she wrote down her observations and feelings. In 1944, her family were discovered and arrested. They were taken to a concentration camp, where she, her mother and her sister died one after another. Years later, Anne Frank's diary was discovered and published around the world in more than 70 languages.
